Cafe Marmalade

With a cool, light, tiled interior one can find relief from the fierce midday sun in this delightful little rustic gem at the top of Kemptown. Giving the feel of a Victorian pantry one may be interested to know that this building formerly served as an ice-cream parlour and dairy in the 1940s. To the recent memory one may remember it as the cafe Hudson and Bridges; however, gone are the quirky colours and alternative twists. A fresh lick of neutral colour has brightened and widened, giving patrons a good sense of privacy as they relax within clean simplicity on the ground floor or on the mezzanine.

Smiling faces behind the counter will serve you some delectable eats from the neatly set out display, ranging from the modern to the traditional favourites: fish pie, porridge, bacon sandwiches, salads and CAKE: scones, brownies, flapjacks, rhubarb and ginger etc. This cafe prides itself on sourcing fresh, organic produce from local businesses including Bramptons Butchers and the Real Patisserie, thereby upholding the Brighton spirit of community support.

Enjoy cool relief from the blazing heat and visit the Cafe Marmalade!

Mange Tout

Mange Tout
81 Trafalgar Street
Brighton - BN1 1HG

With its simple, slightly industrial décor and unassuming façade, you might miss Mange Tout whilst walking along Trafalgar Street. Were it not for the throngs of customers happily chatting over their breakfast and brunch it would be easy to write off this little gem of Brighton.

This is a place that has decided to keep it simple, focusing all of their attention on simple but good quality food with a French twist. Their breakfast menu is ideal for giving you all the ingredients you crave in a full English whilst avoiding the river of  grease which so often accompanies it.

For coffee fans, this place is a must. Mange Tout clearly takes its coffee seriously providing their own blend which has been roasted locally. It is decently priced and will impress even the most discerning coffee connoisseur.

Expect to pay more than you would for your average high street café for food but it’s safe to say that they earn the extra few pounds. The service is efficient, the staff polite and helpful. Unsurprisingly, this is a popular choice with the locals so it’s best to book if you are planning a visit, especially if there are a few of you.

Mange Tout is open from 10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Wednesday, 10:00 to 22:00 Thursday, Friday & Saturday and 10:00 to 17:00 on Sunday.
